Flap Valve
Flap valves are automatic, one-way non-return valves (NRV) installed at pipe or culvert outlets to allow fluid outflow while preventing reverse flow, backwater, and flooding. They operate via pressure, opening when internal flow exists and closing when it stops. Typically made of HDPE, cast iron, or stainless steel, they are used in sewage, drainage, and marine environments.
Features and Applications:
- Purpose: Protects infrastructure from flooding and backflow.
- Operation: Simple, self-acting mechanism requiring no manual intervention.
- Installation: Can be wall-mounted, flange-mounted, or spigot-mounted.
- Materials: High-density polyethylene (HDPE), Stainless Steel (SS316), or Ductile Iron for corrosion resistance.
- Uses: Ideal for sewage disposal, storm/surface water management, tidal outfalls, and pumping stations.
- Industrial Use: Often used in factories to control flow in pipes or exhaust systems.
